PRO-528 Pwrs Up/Scans but Doesn't Receive

I bought a display model 528 from RS for $24.95 on clearance. It powers up and scans but it does not receive. I have tried all service bands including WX but receive nothing. Scanner frequency display just goes and goes never stopping.

I figure it is probably a broken solder from the antenna mount to the board. However, will I be able to see the break or, will I need electronics to determine if that is the problem?

Any more info on the 528, good or bad, would be appreciated.

What happens when you turn the squelch down all the way?

well, i understand why you would ask. however, absolutely nothing. i am not new to the scanner thang, just not an electronics repair guy.

Hi my name is Hector, I have a pro-528, and I have almost the same proble as you, but my scanner will recived aviation frequencies, try to scan aircraft freq. to see what happen, my will NOT RECIVED 800MHz, UHF or VHF, this could be a problem with the scanner software,..
