My son is a commercial Airline pilot. how do I scan ONLY the frequencies needed to hear his departure such as ground clearance, tower, and departure without hearing the hundreds of other frequencies at the same time. I am in Hamilton County OH. Thanks!

Ask him for the frequencies and his schedule for his flights (and flight numbers CALL SIGNS he is assigned. I would GUESS...

download the owners manual and it will tell you how to program the radio and you will learn other things at the same time.

If you are close to the airport, great. If not, you'll likely need an outside antenna to pick up planes when they are on the ground. As far as frequencies are concnerned, there are a few here.
