Good Evening,

I have a Radioshack Pro 652 that I just inherited.
I manually programmed all of the frequencies.

When I am tuned to 158.730(police dispatch) and someone starts broadcasting, I hear the weather over the person speaking. It only plays the weather while someone is transmitting.

The frequency I am hearing over the please dispatch is likely 162.425(NOAA).

Is there any way to prevent this?

Thank You,
MrF

many variables - so bear with the multiple questions in many parts....

a. Have you tried putting in the PL/DPL for that agency , did that eliminate it ?
b. Nearest NWS Tower to you ?
c. Anyone else hear it ? did you try a different radio ?
1. Could be intermod or image on this one radio
2. Could be coming thru the Dispatch Console or Remote lines...

:) I vote;

1. More likely the dispatch has the weather on in the dispatch room (if not all the time, bad weather forecasted?).
2. Adjacent channel interference/frequency multiples, and/or strong tx nearby.

Hope you find it, the radio should be more discriminating (unless overloaded). Good luck! :)

Try turning on the attenuator for 158.73. If you have sufficient signal strength for the PD frequency, that would help with receiver overload and intermod problems.
