Kinda goes back to my post. And no replies yet.
Is there any reason we can't share our Md. configuration files?
It gives people ideas on how other people set up their radios, as well as helps some people get started.
Back in the day when the 96 first came out, we passed around our p96 files.
It's not like telling somebody where your favorite fishing spot is or something?

I have no problem with that idea. Most are based right off the data in RR.

However... I do create scanlists that cross over multiple systems (something easier to do in GRE/Radio Shack radios than Uniden models) and break out the single systems into different subcategories based on my interest.

Depending on where you are in Maryland, some of these setups will be less effective because not all of the systems can be heard in a multiple list setup, and the single system lists could also be out of range from a given location. These things should be understood in advance.

The forum only allows files with certain extensions to be uploaded and there are limits on zip file sizes. I will see what I can zip within that limit. Pretty sure a whole cdat folder won't fit.

I didn't think about size limitations. The CDAT I just built is a little over a meg.
I understand about systems being out of my immediate reach, but I am interested in seeing how others set up their scanners. Configuration scheme.

I just tried to upload my CDAT and it's too big. The limit is only 195K.
Oh well, maybe the admins can create a section for this purpose.

I don't have a PRO-668, but I'm willing to share my WS1080 file. My PSR-800 is programmed identically to this. I'm pretty sure you can view it in the iScan software, although you probably won't want to upload it to your scanner. I'm not really an expert with this so maybe someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Keep in mind these caveats:

  1. I use Scan Sets to enable/disable groups of Scan Lists. That's the reason all Scan Lists are enabled. I just enable/disable Scan Sets depending on where I'm at in the State.
  2. I mainly monitor three systems; UMESC, Anne Arundel and MD FIRST. Occasionally a few other close by systems. Some of the other systems I programmed based entirely on the way they were listed in RR Database. So, I haven't verified that all of them will actually work. Plus I haven't kept up to date with some of those distant system. Apparently there is a lot of changes taking place.

Rick, I just wanted to check back and tell you that I imported your CDAT to my 668 and it works fine.
I use iSCAN.
Thanks again, I like your set-up.

Thanks Mike,

It took me a long time to learn how to program Scan Sets, but once I did it made it a lot easier to toggle groups of Scan Lists on the fly. This is especially useful when in the car as I can now select Scan Sets without looking at the scanner (e.g., I don't have to take my eyes off of the road).

It also took me about a week to organize and program all the systems I wanted to be able to scan. But after using it for a while and seeing how useful the organization is, I'm glad I put in the effort.

PGPD and the 668 or 800

Can anyone give first-hand reports on how their Pro-668 or PSR-800 does with PG County Phase 2?
Please provide your location as it relates to your reception/decoding results.
As for me... I have a Pro-668...I get pretty good reception in Laurel near Rt. 1 and Cypress St.Various PD sectors come in with pretty good audio.
In Greenbelt, not very good at Rt.193 and the Beltway.
In Bladensburg, on the highest hill in the county, I can't receive/decode much of anything phase2.

Thanks,

Mike

I only drive through PG, but my PSR-800 does well with the system in areas east of the Beltway along US50, on I-95 north of the Beltway to the ICC, and on NY Avenue in DC.

On Rt. 50 inside the beltway, before DC, is it bad?
I forgot to mention, I do pretty well also on I-95 between College Park and the ICC.

I don't recall exactly, but I also don't remember it having any issues when I'm driving through that area.

I live in Upper Marlboro, and - reception is so-so..... as I get to Fire Station 20 it gets better...........even better in District Heights on my way to work. Near JBA Andrews it's like I am at Communications it's so clear.

In DC - I hear it very well from Cap Hill....pretty decent in Arlington/Alexandria.

.........it's kind of cool to hear your son on PGFD 8A1 responding to a call :)

Not sure that post has anything to do with the discussions on this thread. There is a classified section on this web site.

Was not trying to sell anything here, just adding to the other posts in this thread discussing price and availability.

If I could edit the previous post, I would do so to remove those last three lines.

Does everyone still like PRO-668? Thinking about ordering one. Saw a good deal on Amazon. I would like an additional Phase 2 radio.

At times the Phase 2 reception doesn't seem quite as sharp as the PSR-800 but overall I'm satisfied. Until the recent updates, I found the software kind of clunky with Win7x64.
