Not sure if I'm wording this right, so here it goes.
I'm treating the playsets as banks like in my old pro-106. I have assigned channels to playsets that I ant to listen to. Then I have SkyWarn set to priority. Does that mean I won't receive SkyWarn? I'm thinking that since the priority is checked, the scanner should monitor that channel every so often. Yes/No?

Can someone with the 668 explain a little of the Advanced DSP Setting and Trunking options and what that means? Bottom left corner of the attached photo.

you know... the paper clip idea is not that far fetched... now your getting it... LOL... you can also try a BNC telescoping antenna at it's shortest length... can't help you with the 668 software as I do have a GRE 800 but the EZ Scan software is all different than yours... I would say that putting everything on default settings is always a good practice... I'm glad you're at least getting the concept of LSM and attempting to deal with it... experiment with stubbys and try to find out exactly where the towers are in your system... that will give you a running start... the sites could be in the listings but in the programing library it usually just says "simulcast"... not sure what system you are trying to hear...

Bob; is there somewhere on RR that shows or tells me where the towers are? Yeah, dealing with it pretty well. Gets me to know the radio and sub menus. Playing with "DSP level adapt" to see what works best at home. Then trying ADC and DAC gain settings.
Still trying to figure out what those are.

... there you go... thanks Buddy... hm... I did not see any p2 systems in your area, that statewide interoperable system is a monster... I assume you are having a problem with the 800 "simulcast" smartzone type II p1 system in your county... looks just like what we have in Philly that is riddled with LSM... although you have over a hundred site locations in your state system your county simulcast tower locations are not listed... there is nothing on Wiki for that system either... you can still search Google for info from your county on the radio system... search other sources for listings in your area... keep looking and you may find out tower locations... you can assume that if you see any big towers around your area it's involved in your system (along with many other antennas)... you are probably between at least 2, maybe 3 towers in your part of the county... I would actually have to monitor your system and see the symptoms... keep experimenting and seek out others in your area to compare notes.... thanks again Buddy for those listings... Bob...

So... This is what I've found that works for me. Both home and at work. Mobile not so much.
DSP level adapt: 76
ADC Gain: +2
DAC Gain: -4

Both my 668 and PSR800 work great on the statewide P25 Phase 2 system, but not so great on the local P25 Pase 1 LSM system. But both my Pro106 and PSR500 work great on the LSM system.

For LSM systems it sometimes helps to enable attenuation on the closest sites.

... yes four that's true... using the att goes with getting a lesser signal like you would with an antenna of lesser abilities... the secret is to compromise reception so as to only hear 1 tower at a time... going from NFM to FM can also help... Bob...

Here's what I found today. My receiving transmissions were getting cut off. I took SkyWarn off (Priority). BANG - no cut-offs. I still have the SAME/FIPS code set as priority but not sure if I'm going to receive that unless I have it set to a playset. Any input on making sure I receive SAME messages would be greatly appreciated.

To answer my own post earlier about the skywarn. I created a SW playset and enabled it, that way it scans all the time unless I disable it, but I took it off priority so that all the channels get fair priority.

hahahaha Listening now, LEO describing hooker and john fighting over stollen $50.

So anyway, Love the 668. You just have to play with the settings till you get it to work where you live. Still working on solution for when I take it in the Jeep to and from work.
