Since you appear to be taking requests

Dont know what your talking about, this was not requested by anyone.

do you think you could add a decryption feature to these scanners? I'd like to hear what some of these agencies are hiding!

Since you appear to not know what your talking about,im not going to explain why that can not be done.

Wow...how quickly the thread I started got off track; I'm astonished. At first I got sarcastic answers, then a whole "will it blend" mystery and now promises of a new firmware. Just too bad I don't have the power to close/lock this thread myself as it's course has been run.

Just going to wait and see what he come up with, if anything? DMR would be nice, still skeptical Who knows he might actually prove us wrong? A picture showing it works, or working progress would have had a more positive respond . But also know some coders are strange that way to. So won't be shock ether way this when, if he did come out with something last minute, or is just trolling?

"Select any one object to record regardless if another object is active"

Neat trick (read: impossible) with only one tuner, unless this is just "priority mode".

The only possible exception would be two conversations in different slots on a TDMA frequency. Even that would require major DSP and CPU work (and I'm somewhat doubtful that the DSP has the cycles and RAM available to run two streams through the vocoder).

Scanners will need to have AMBE+2 vocoder from DVSI chip that is needed $30 each, which none have currently. The Whistler WS1080 uses
AMBE+ Vocoder speech compression, not capable of DMR. So no you can't just decode what you want, as hardware has to be capable to.

While I strongly doubt that our friend Whistle-Shack has done any of what he claims...

Keep in mind that Motorola's "X2 TDMA" is heavily based on DMR. If a scanner can decode X2, it probably has the appropriate vocoder for DMR.

I'm not sure why you think the PSR-800 / PRO-18 / WS1080 / PRO-668 family doesn't have the AMBE+2 vocoder.

thegriff, all you have to do is click on the red/white triangle in the upper right corner and send a request to a mod to close. Just that simple.

I find it entertaining. If it was my thread I'd keep it rolling.

I'm certainly finding it entertaining, and find myself waiting eagerly for the next post.

You want a post. You sound like a man that gets what he wants,so here is the post.Im about 4 posts away from releasing WhistLe-ShacK package(As Of Now For Pro-668 Only).I would like to request that you take some time 24 hours prior to install and post a review of the package.

Very interesting thread. To bad that I don't have any of the mentioned scanners.

Will the Whistle-ShacK package consist of software & firmware ? 4 posts away from releasing = hours or days ?

BOM on old thread a while back on the PSR-800. Not sure what the Whistler WS1080, or R/S Pro-668 is using, heard it wasn't from various people?

4 posts away, could be a year from now, or never, if he decides to stop posting? A open-ended answer.

I had the same question, no dual receivers, so interested on how he going to pull this one off and don't think DSP is capable and enough memory?

Wish someone had a link to a BOM, or service manual for this scanner?

Got mine (pro668) a few weeks ago and with the downfall of radio shack was wondering if the unit would ever get a firmware update. Seing as its the same or similar to the WS1080 im hoping the updates would come. After reading this thread i also in and waiting to see what happens.
Id be happy for just a stock option to go from 668 to 1080 simply for the fact that i would now get future WS updates.
