I have been attempting to update the firmware on my Radio Shack PRO-668 scanner using the CPUUpdater software provided by Whistler. I followed the instructions to enter CPU update mode by holding down the menu button and plugging in the USB cable. The device successfully entered CPU update mode, but when I tried to proceed with the firmware update, I encountered an error message stating, "The scanner currently contains no CPU application code! This update utility contains version 4.8."
Unfortunately, the update process seems to have wiped the CPU firmware from the scanner, leaving it in an unusable state. The device remains stuck in CPU update mode, and I have been unable to revert it back to its normal operation or successfully apply the firmware update. I've tried several troubleshooting steps, including unplugging the device, using different USB cables, and attempting to reinitialize the update process, but nothing has worked. Windows also fails to recognize the device, making it impossible to access the scanner's file system or perform a manual reset through the settings menu.
