Pro 70 will not recieve anything

I bought a Pro 70 handheld scanner on ebay and everything seems to work fine. It performs all it's functions like it is supposed to do but I cannot pick up anything on the air. I reinitialized it and put in my local freqs and it scans them fine. If I turn Squelch off I get your standard radio noise. I changed antennas and it made no difference. I have a desktop scanner I am using at the same time and it picks up traffic just fine but not my handheld. It says in the manual that it is a line of sight scanner so I took it with me in the car and still nothing. I even drove around with the squelch off but I get no reception. Any suggestions on this problem?

I have an old PRO 70 that I use to hear Tampa PD. Does your scanner get the weather frequency? If not it may be a loose connection inside the scanner. Are the frequencies you are trying to monitor able to be picked up my your PRO 70? PRO 70 Frequency Range(s) Specified Interval
29–54 and 137–144 MHz 5.0 kHz steps
380–512 What desktop unit do you have?
