I would look at the battery pack as that is what it sounds like. The rechargables develope a memory after a while and the time they last becomes shorter and shorter. GOD Bless

Does the display indicate it is stopped on a channel and you simply can not hear it?
Or is it not stopping?

PRO-92 - not the speaker

It'll just won't stop even on weather (162.400) that is allways
going it won't stop.

So if I understand your situation, when you are powering it from AC it works, and when you power it from batteries, it stops receiving. You might try powering it from batteries at home and see what happens.

First I'd narrow down whether it is the external speaker, the AC power or the location you use the scanner that causes the problem. Then go from there.

A hunch: rechargeable batteries are typically a lower voltage than non-rechargables such as alkalines. Six alkalines is 6x1.5v = 9.0v but six (depends on exact battery here) others could be 6x1.35 = 8.1v fully charged. AND if there is some other issue going on, that could be enough to "put it over the edge".

I use a PRO-92, with NiMH rechargable batteries and have no problems... other than there is zero warning that I have a low battery. Once the LB indication comes on, it is only another minute until it powers off. When I use alkalines the LB function gives me nearly 30 minutes.

Just my $0.02
Good luck,
George
