Pro-92 Software to sync with RR DB

Hola Fellows,

I am currently trying to program my Pro-92 scanner with all the conventional frequencies associated with LASD and LAPD but am having a hard time not losing my cool. Currently all programming is being done via hand on Win92 programming software which does not (to my knowledge) have the capability of automatically syncing with RadioReference like Win500 does. I have looked around for clones and such with no success. Halp Pl0x?

While you can't directly download the data from the RR database, you can use MS Excel (or many other spreadsheets) to copy the RR database, modify it to match the Win92 format and past the data into Win92. This should save you quite a bit of time and trouble (and nearly eliminate they nearly certain typos from manual entry).

For example, copy the data from "LA County FD Battalion Response Map", which will look like this

Copy the "Frequency", "Tone", and "Alpha Tag" columns into a new area of the spreadsheet. They need to be reordered and an extra column added. The final destination should be "Alpha Tag", "Frequency", (a new column added called) "Rx Mode", and "Tone".

Next, edit the "Tone" column to blank out the "CSQ". For those entries, populate the "Rx Mode" column with the text "FM".

Next, edit the "Tone" column to remove the " PL" from the columns that have this populated (e.g. "151.4 PL" would become simply "151.4"). For those entries, popluate the "Rx Mode" column with the text "PL".

Now that the data has been cleaned up and is ready for loading into Win92, it should look like this:

Next select the 4 columns of data (but not the headings row) in the spreadsheet and copy them (ctrl-c or appropriate). Move to Win92 and select the row where the first of them is to be placed. Plaste the data onto the Win92 screen and check for any errors. Correct any errors and populate any options from the 4 columns we didn't populate.

Repeate this process for the other banks and save the file locally (so you can simply make changes later if needed) and upload the data to your scanner.

Please note that the amount of data you can copy is limited by the Win92 screens (which reflect the scanner limitations). You can only copy up to 50 frequencies per bank. To descide what values to enter in the "Rx Mode" col, simply look at the Win92 values for that field and pick the one that's appropriate. While I didn't provide details, you can populate the talk groups for trunked systems using a similar procedure.

Currently I have only one problem to report. I am having trouble eliminating the channels and frequencies I do not wish to use. On the 201.csv excel sheet I downloaded they are all jumbled together making it hard to just use the LAW-Tac and such channels.

Use the sort features in the spreadsheet if that'll help or simply build a new section and copy/paste the desired lines in one at a time to get things like you want. The advantage of the spreadsheet method is you can play with the data all you want (so long as you keep the rows intact) and then copy only the final set over to Win92.

Good luck and hopefully this'll get you running with much less effort (and grief) than the manual typing method.

Ok so far I have everything organized and found I just need to move columns around in spreadsheet which I am not exactly a pro at >.> I'll figure it out though. Thanks so much for ur halp. I wish I could like +rep you or something cuz yea you just saved me from rage quitting on this. I guess I was a little spoiled with my Pro-197 scanner automatically programming lol

If you know Excel rather well, you may try using the "Filter" function to hide the rows you're not interested in. It's not the easiest option to figure out or understand what it does just from the name, but it is really useful once you work with it a bit.

This option has moved around a bunch version to version (and somewhat changed how it displays), but on my version it's part of the Data menu and about mid-screen on the ribbon-bar. With the filter option active, you have an arrow box on each column heading. Clicking this arrow you can select to display only rows that match the values you have checked. It should help you remove the junk and only show the LAW-Tac or other desired channel types.

Yea I'm running like 2010 version or something-one of those things that I have but never use. And I just copied it directly from the RR DB and pasted it in. all the columns and what not are in tact but I just need the alpha tag column to be on the far left. Ill chekc out that feature in a second here.

I just want to say thank you for this information. It's accurate and it works. Instead of excel I used Kingsoft's Office suite 6 and Win92, both free, and the files from the premium access...best darn money I've spent in a while.

I'll try to u/l the .xls files when I get through working on them. Could be a while, but that's ok.
