baltimore city is digital... your pro92 wont cut it...

if you are die hard on listening to it though... you will have to fork out anywhere from 450 to 600 for a digital scanner

PRO 96/2096 or BC 296/396/796 are some of your options (and before anyone say it... i know i didnt list all the unidens, those are just the ones im familiar with)

Wow

Wow you see, I didnt even know about that. How would the radio be programmed though if I did have a capable scanner. I heard the channels had to be put in a certain order. The scanner has a button marked trunked, would I have to hit that first? PLEASE HELP!!!!! LOL

you only have to put the channels in a certain order if it is an EDACS or LTR system... as far as programing the scanner, ive never owned a 92, so i cant help you there. i just know that a 92 isnt a digital capable scanner... sorry

I don't know off hand if the Pro92 is capable of Control Channel only trunking.
I don't have a manual for mine, and no trunked system to test it on.

Assuming you got a digital scanner, all you need to program in is/are the active control channel(s) and alternate control channels.
Alternate control channels wouldn't need to be programmed in either, but if you don't and they chang the control channel. Then well you wouldn't be able to track the system
Then set the mode to Motorola, and turn on trunking for that bank. Or Group (396t?).
Programming talk groups is not necessary, but probably helpful on a large system.

The Pro-92 is not a Control Channel only scanner. You have to program in all of the frequencies each site/system has.

The original PRO-92 couldn't do CC only TrunkTracking, but the PRO-92A and PRO-92B can.

No, they can't.

Pro-92 (original): subaudible data (over the voice channels) trunking; only need to program in the voice channels.

Pro-92A & Pro-92B: control channel trunking; must program in the control channel and all voice channels.

None of these 3 are control-channel-only scanners. I believe the Pro-93 was the first RS scanner with this feature.

JAYONE:
To program a Motorola system:
1) go to the bank you want to use.
2) go into program mode (PGM button)
3) set the trunk type (press TRUNK, then press MODE until it says MOT)
4) program the IDs you want to scan or lock-out, if any
5) program the frequencies:
5a) press program so you exit the TRUNK menu
5b) program the frequency
5c) set the frequency mode to MOT (press MODE until MO shows in the upper-right corner)
5d) program text tag, if desired; this will display on third line when receiving a talkgroup
5e) repeat 5a-5d until all frequencies are programmed in; as mentioned by another poster, order does not matter as long as they're all in the same bank.

To scan the system, simply scan that bank. If you have a Pro-92 (not A or B) then you'll have to hit L/O when it stops on the control channel. If you're in the open mode (represented by a "+" under the bank number), you're effectively in search mode. In order to only hear talkgroups you programmed in, and to ignore talkgroups you locked out, you must be in closed mode. When stopped on a channel, press Func-2 to toggle between the two.

The above is from my memory; apologies if any bits are wrong. I'd highly recommend a read through the manual (support.radioshack.com/productinfo/DocumentResults.asp?sku_id=20-522&Name=Radio Scanners&Reuse=N)
and using Win92 (free! from www.starrsoft.com).
