Hi All,

I have a Pro-93 that has been well used over the last 8-9 years, but as with most things, I have replaced the 93 with newer and better models.

Anyway, I have relegated the 93 to monitoring things like EMA, Marine, Forestry and shared frequencies in my area. It had been some time since I had turned on the 93. When I did turn it on I noticed that the cursor remained on one of the banks just setting there blinking. I double check to make sure that I was not in manual mode, it was not. I then did go to manual and cycled through several channels until I was on another bank, then tried to scan and got the same results. I decided to leave the unit on for a few minutes while I was doing something else. In a few minutes got a hit on the 93 and she was scanning away as usual.

Is this a common problem with older radios? Rather, a problem for any radio used infrequently? Did the circuitry need to warm up to get it going. Is this a indication that this radio will die sometime soon?

Thanks for an input....
Keith

PRO-93 issues

The PRO-93 & PRO-95 are identical scanners, except the amount of memory they have. If the cursor is sitting on only one bank, it is checking that bank (and not the others). This is not normal.

I wonder if the bank where the cursor was sitting is a trunked system. That is the only "normal" condition I can think of for the PRO-93/PRO-95. It will sit there reading data from the control channel for some time before moving on. The only place I've seen that has any user control over this dwell time is in WIN93, in the bank section, where it says "ID Delay (ms)".

If the bank is not used for trunking, do you have it set to "conventional"?
