• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Just came about this on my Pro 94 and was wondering what it does. When I hit the priority button while I turn the radio on, the screen flashes "Off Save" If I turn the scanner off, then do it again, the screen flashed "On Save" . The scanner seems to be operating the same as before, so what did I do?

What you are doing, is turning the battery save on and off...this is the feature where, when you park on a channel in manual, it only checks the freq every few seconds. This is supposedly to extend battery life. I have it turned off on mine. I wish I could turn it off on my GRE radios...

Next to a scanner...
Power save off - PRO-94

I turn mine off when I have it plugged in. It helps to avoid missing the first 1/2 second of a transmission.

why would you want to turn the battery save off?

Because you can miss the first part of a conversation with it on. With battery save, and manually stopped on a channel, it's not continuously monitoring the channel. It turns off for a bit, then back on to check for activity, kind of like Priority does. With battery save off, it's continuously monitoring the channel, and you're less likely to miss the first part of the conversation...

Battery Save only activates while manually parked on a channel, so most of the time, you won't see it activate, anyway...

How does this work with the pro95 :?:

The PRO-95 works the same way, but there is a way around it.
If you want to sit on a conventional channel, push program
instead of manual. The battery saver is disabled in program mode.

With the new PRO-94 B's they can be opened,.. but no one has yet gotton to writing the programming software ...... As to keypad tricks,... none that do fancy programming bypass/overide functions yet.....

I have a feeling that someone will show off their computer super hacker genius and do a mod plug or code plug/software interface soon.

Here is the 94 family history:

PRO-94 TT-2, Can't scan conventional and TT at the same time.... and can't put conventional and trunked in same bank.
Pro-94 A TT-2, Can do both conventional and TT at same time and can do both in same bank.
PRO-94 B TT-2, Now has an PC/IF port BUT- NO SOFTWARE to program/PC Control YET!

PRO-2052 TT-2, can't do TT and conventional together, but does have mil air, and fully PC Programmable, and Controllable.

Both 1000 Chan., TT-2's that do Motorola I, II, and IIi, as well as EDACS Analog.
