We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. Hey guys....

Which one do you suggest? 94 or 97? What's the major difference apart from the price?

Regards

Pro-97 all the way.
The Pro-97 adds alpha-tags, CTCSS/DCS, Signal Stalker II, and can be programmed using Win97.

The 97 supports alpha numerics. Which is nice to not have to remember what channel belongs to which department. CT and DCT support. Plus it support a third type of trunking known as LTR. They have them on sale from time to time for $150.

The 97 includes the MILITARY UHF frequency range,CTCSS and DCS decoding and many other nice features.

I just pcked up a 97 for $99 at a RS that is closing,I think they may be on sale at some regular locations as well :)

You can compare the specs on each with these links....

I wouldn't pay anything more than $75 for a PRO-94.

It is a cheap out of date scanner in my opinon.

The PRO-97 is an excellent scanner.. Worth every penny.

I can't believe RS still sells the 94. I own one, and I haven't used it in two years.

pro-94 or 97

If for some reason you must have a Uniden made radio, and not gre, then buy a used BC245. It's so much better than the '94, you won't believe it. Austin

I got a 97 when it first came out. I LOVE it! I only "upgraded" to a 96 recently because my area is going digital in the near future, and it was on sale.

A 97 is a real treat at a military air show!
