Pro-94 vs. Pro-95 - all comments are welcome !

Hello All!

Semi-Noob here requesting the pro and cons of the Pro-94 and Pro-95. I got started last year with scanning when I purchased the Pro-39 at a local flea market. The Pro-39 has kept up for the last year but it's time to upgrade. My girlfriend wants to get me a new scanner but I'm unsure which one to ask for. I really like the features of the Pro-95: alphanumeric text, able to download frequencies to the scanner.

back to the topic... pro 95 hands down... even if it is only for the text tags

Alpha tagging......
Freq range
Did I mention Win95???

For just easy to use dual trunking with no extra highlights....the 94 wins....

on recieve backlighting.... 94

no open/closed modes... 94

Simplicity of battery issues....94


So basically till the 97 hits shelves... the 95 wins........

If you try this poll with the 92 vs 95..... 95 has only one advantage.....

Actual Narrow FM freqs vias software,... 92 rounds.......

Two more things that the PRO-95 has over the PRO-92:

1. Control Channel only on Moto systems

2. The PRO-95 scans at 60 cps, while the PRO-92 is only 25 cps...

I have both. Go with the 95. The 94 is the hardest to program by hand than any other scanner I have ever had. You can not program in trunked systems talk groups unless you are getting the control channel. All of the WIN9* programs work great.

Someone who has a 94 I will tell you it is a chore to program and find anything that supports it. Had to use Scan-Lite to program it the way I wanted it ( The only downloader there is that can support the pro-94
)

Other than that an excellent and clear radio.

I use Compuserve which is owned by AOL, therefore the only option would be right click, which did not work. O well, time for Jay Leno. I will try again tomorrow ( my drinkin' night ), and will probably figure it out.

What browser are you using? iespell can only be used with internet explorer. There is another one called tiny spell that should work for ya too.

The 95 without a doubt. I tried a 94 for a couple of days and returned it. The main thing on it I wanted was the A/B as I was traveling and this gave the ability to program a home and an away version (the Pro-96's Vscan is FANTASTIC in that regards). This feature was far out weighed by the poor performance I was getting from the radio.

Though if you don't need digital (and then would go for the Pro-96 or the two Bearcats) you might want to look at the new BC-246T (see the forum on that scanner).

I have herd that the Pro 95 will not do Digital 800mhz.

Such as the system found in Delaware.....Is this true ???? and why so

You heard right. The Pro95 is $149 and does do digital. The Pro96 does digital and is $499. Digital costs much more to design and build, not to mention that a patent fee has to be paid by scanner manufactuer.
