According to radioshack.com, it scans analog transmissions.

Dual-Trunking: Scans Analog Motorola® I, II, I/II and GE/Ericsson (EDACS)

According to its specs, the Pro-97 looks better, which I just got for my birthday.

If you already have a Pro-94, it will scan trunked systems well enough, except for the lack of LTR capbility. If you are looking to buy a scanner, the Pro-94 is not the one I'd pick. The Pro-97 is more sensitive, has text tags, CTCSS/DPL, and much better backlighting. The audio is better and the sceen is bigger. It will track any type of non-digital trunking system except the usual supects like ProVoice and OpenSky. However, if you need digital and want a portable, the Pro-96 is your only choice from RS.

Yeah, I just got the Pro-97 a little less than a week ago, and I'm loving it. I don't know if it's the scanner or just a lot of radiowaves in my area, but I'm getting transmissions from a few cities north of me. It's farther than I thought.

I own a PRO-94. It doesn't trunk as well as PRO-95 or PRO-97. PRO-94 isn't as sensitive in FM as the two previous models either. Finally, PRO-94 is not digital.

My money goes to the old faithful PRO-95 for sensitivity but the PRO-97 has great features and is a very capable hand scanner. Wished the PRO-97 had "blue LEDS" that will be great.
