Pro-95 battery or charging problem?

Lately my Pro-95 which I have only had for about 7 months has started to give me some problems. I hope you guys can help.

I have noticed that it doesn't seem to hold a charge as well as it used to. Also, sometimes when I turn it on it just will not turn on. I played around with it a little bit and it seems like the battery holder can shake itself loose to a point where the contacts are not making contact. Has anyone heard of this problem? Is this a reason to try to get RS to give me a new one? If not, can you guys tell me how to solve the problem?

First of all, look for any oxidation on the "silver" contacts on both the battery box and the interiorof the unit. These oxides are resistors - not conductors. Next, try operating the unit on your DC power alone. You can always try another set of batteries for comparison. If nothing, get a new yellow battery box - they are cheap.

I played around with it a little bit and it seems like the battery holder can shake itself loose to a point where the contacts are not making contact.

Inside the batt compartment, slightly pull the battery terminals springs towards the bottom of the compartment. This will provide a better seating for the battery and assure charging with the yellow batt holder.

DON'T mess with it!!!!!!

Send it back to RS for repair since it is still under warranty. Why pay for a component if it can be replaced under warranty. I have had to send my 95 back two or three times for the attena coming loose. Once the warranty expired I went in and fixed it myself. I have not had any more problems with it since then. BTW if you mess something up youy warranty will be invalid.
