Pro - 95 EDACS "Weird"

I live in worcester,ma. i have 2 scanners. Pro-94 an a pro-95 the pro-94 edacs is loud an clear and doesn't miss a thing. The pro-95 edacs sounds like its under water an misses a look wtf. Is anyone having the same problem? An how can i fix it....Thanks :x

I know on my Pro95 when RS programmed it for me, the trunked freq's were set into bank 3. I added the second system for Volusia County, FL to bank 4. I wasn't getting much though... (Yes, we use a EDACS system here as well)

I cleared the scanner, and reprogrammed it, putting system a trunking in Bank 0, and System B trunking in Bank 1. I started programming on 001 and 101, instead of 000 and 100. For some reason, the Pro95 doesnt like the first channel of a bank to be used in trunking. (Shrug)

IF you read the manual the sidebar on page 56 states that LCN 1 should go in channel 01 , LCN 2 in channel 02 etc. This would indicate that you should skip channel 00

I reprogramed it again its edacs not working

I started at bank 1 001 the freq. all the way to 010. hit scan an its the same underwater transmission sounds crappy. Why am i having trouble with this scanner. Hell my old 94 may not be much but its loud an clear right from the start. Grrr :x

I do NOT know if this applies to other Trunked RS /GRE Scanners but
I can say that with the 92B when programming EDACS by HAND instead of COMPUTER you MUST do the following:

1. Select a bank
2. Press Trunk
3. Cycle through the MODES until ED appears.
4. Now you can program in the Talk Groups.
5. Now program in the frequencies making sure that each one is set to ED (EDACS).

I know that you are using a different scanner but somebody explainedthat to me that the above works when programming by HAND and NOT COMPUTER

Also, are you recieving the Control Frequency quite well.
If NOT this could be a problem too.

Another thing: Consult your local radioreference.com page and follow the LCN programming on that page. Unlike MOTO systems,
LCN programming is important when it comes to EDACS

Are you 100% sure that the system you are trying to listen to is EDACS?Maybe it is OpenSky or ProVoice. Also, LTR Trunked Radio Systems have LCNs. Are you sure that the Control Frequencies are NOT encrypted so that only SYSTEM users can follow converstations but NOT RADIO SCANNER owners?

Well with some systems, the controller rotates throguh some or all of the frequencies. Whatever frequency the Controller (This is what makes trunking possible.) resides on, you will hear a buzzing noise when in MANUAL MODE, when in SCAN MODE, you shouldn't even hear this cause then your radio scanner works more like a EDACS trunked system radio.
Also, when in MANAUL, you will hear only parts of the Conversation.
This is becasue the Converstation will skip from LCN to LCN because this is a Trunked System. Once somebody is done talking, and your radio scanner is in manual or scan (Non trunked modes.) mode you might hear a few beeps, @ least I do where I live. This is designed to prevent the radio scanner from scanning and trying to follow along with the Conversation. Well that worked until somebody invented the G-Whiz board to prevent you from hearing that.
I think that this board opnly worked wit hthe Pro-2006 scanner. Then came trunking. Now you wil lonly hear that assuming the system is ANALOG, if it is DIGITAL, good luck, becasue as far as I know EDACS digital is Pro-Voice oe OPEN SKY and scanners CANNOT decode that.
Also, if the system you are listening to uses MDTs, you will hear the buzzin noise from them too in MANUAL MODE. However I have yet to hear an MDT on the local EDACS System in SCAN MODE.
I do NOT know why this is.

ENCRYPTION: Whoa. This is NASTY stuff.
They (The Radio Makers) are on to us. They know we have Trunking capable radio scanners. So what did they do? Well there is always the option to ENCRYPT Talk Groups all the time or some of the time. Then again you can always ENCRYPT the Controller. Well that means you just might have to listen to the system in MANUAL MODE. The only way your radio scanner will follow along with the Talk Groups is if you have the proper key to decode the ENCRYPTION. Of course to other way to do that is to get a system radio programmed for RX (Recieve only.) Unless you belong to the media, good luck on the second option.

So far radio scanners can only decode P-25 APCO and that is when that is NOT ENCRYPTED. They can decode P25 in Conventional or Trunked Mode

Based on the (limited) info you have given, you have a defective 95. The pro-95 doesn't have any issues with EDACS, I know people who have 95s and use them on EDACS systems, no problem.
