hey, so i have a pro-95 with a control channel programmed, and i want it to scan, but only stop on that freq. when there's a talkgroup active. it's programmed into the scanner as an MOT channel, but when i scan it keeps stopping on the control channel noise. how do i get it to only stop when something is on.

does that make sense?

You have to program the bank as MOT and the channel as MOT - both of them.

It might stop on the control channel once in a while - that's a known bug, but not constantly. The fix, when it does, is to turn it off, then back on.

make sure the control channel has MOT instead of conventional. also
there MAY be a setting for the BANK (ex. 7 for channels 700-799) to
be motorola instead of conventional -- i don't remember. if so, it's
probably able to be changed w/ the Func key, like Func 5 or something.
its in the manual if you know where yours is. here is a link to the
user manual online in PDF form if you dont have yours handy.

ok i just looked at the manual. try this.
push PRGM then go to the bank with the trunked channels. for example,
if you want a motorola system in bank 2, go somewhere in the 200
series channels. so like this:
PRGM 200 PRGM TRUNK
now use MODE to make sure that its set for Motorola. so PRGM TRUNK
should be what you use to tell the scanner which mode a bank is in.

the pro95 is a great scanner. i loved mine when i had it. but you NEED
to get familiar with the manual to get the most use out of the radio.
if i were you, i'd spend an hour or so and go page by page over the
manual until you're comfortable with 99% of it. good luck.

It is known to stop on the control channel if you ACTIVATE scanning banks while scanning. To get it to stop, hit the manual button, then the scan button again.

Again make sure you have the frequencies and the bank programmed as a Motorola system.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you are interested in only one talk group.

In order to pull that off you have to WAIT for that talk group to be active (someone transmitting for that group). Once you are recieving something on that group press & hold the TRUNK key. The display will show ID HOLD. What you are doing now is pressing the MANUAL key which will send the scanner to the control channel.

If you notice, when scanning a trunking system the channel # stays the same even though the display frequency changes. That is showing where the current control channel is located.

Hold on.... now that I'm re-reading your question I see I misunderstood what you were asking.... Go with what everyone else said... be sure the BANK is set for MOT as well as the channels for that system.

If you are not sure about all the talk group ID's on a system, then set up a test mode. Enter the controller and the alternate if it has one. Run in OPEN mode. All ID's show on display. If you entered known ID's but are looking for additional ones, then LOCK OUT all ID's and run in OPEN mode. Here again any new ID's will show in display.

If the scanner is in OPEN mode, even locked-out talkgroups will be scanned. It is an unfortunate "feature" of the Pro-95.
