• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

After following the manual for programing 800 mhz type ii motorola by just using the control chanels and then scan it only stops on the first control chanel i programed. Any help would be great. Also I had it programmed with all the freq. before i learned about the short cut and had to reprogram after it had a brainfart and re-initialized it. Now even if i re-initailize it it is still in auto scan with the control chanels. wish i could undo the func 3 feature that turned it this way. HELP please

When it stops .. does it start trunk tracking that control channel?

If not .. hrmmm .. it sounds like you still need to set that banks mode to MOT.

Remember, as you are programming your radio, each frequency needs to set to a trunking flavor and then the bank is set to a 'master' trunking flavor.

Is this only for one system? If not, you should put conventional channels between the two systems to scan in the same bank...

If it is, and you're saying you hear the audible control channel, then it's not set to MO...Each freq, and the BANK must be set to MO...if you followed the manual, then you SHOULD be fine...

I have 6 control channels of a statewide type II system in my 95. My closest tower is programmed first. The balance is by direction or distance. IF its all the same system the 95 will proceed thru each and every controller. It will not stop, however, if it cannot hear the next controller. Some systems have a second controller on a primary tower and switches at random. This freq should be installed also but is not always ON as a controller. IF you have programmed seperate systems you should seperate them and use another bank. Hope this helps.
