Pro-95 mod to unlock frequencies

Hi All,

Recently, there's been someone on eBay who has been hawking some utility of some sort that unlocks the (non-cellular) frequencies on a Pro-95.

Apparently, with this utility you "will have access to scan the full spectrum from 17MHz to 1.3GHz."

Has anyone heard anything about this?

I HAVE HEARD ABOUT THAT TOO! I LOOK AT EBAY ALMOST EVERY DAY, AND I SAW THAT THING. I THINK IT IS FOR THE PRO-93 AND PRO-95. HE ALSO SAYS THAT IT WILL LET YOU LISTEN TO TELEVISION BROADCASTS, MILITARY, FEDERAL AGENCYS (if they are not encypted of course), AND SOME OTHER STUFF. SOUND PRETTY COOL, BUT MY PRO-93 IS FINE THE WAY IT IS.

With Don Starr's software that Michael pointed you to, you can make those same .p95 files yourself for free. It's also VERY useful for doing the "func/tune/scan up" procedure where you can scan those out-of-range freqs.

I figure y'all just saved me a possible $10. Is it straightforward to get these out-of-range freqs with Win95?

Something I'm also pondering, tho. Why are these freqs not 'regularly' accessible via the keypad?

Because the PRO95 receiver doesn't work well outside of the specified ranges.
Mine is nearly deaf on 225 - 400 and is about usless for mil air.
It doesn't have wide FM so its useless for TV & FM broadcasts.
It receives SW AM stations relatively well from about 17 - 25 MHz
if you have a HF antenna.

Just because you can make the LCD display show all kinds of cool frequencies doesn't mean the receiver has to work on them.

To get the extra range, just put in the freq you want in a channel slot.
