Just got my Pro-95. Turned it on, and after the "Welcome to dual trunking" message, it says "All channels locked out!" How can I unlock channels?

Thanks for your patience.

just start programming.

Once you have frequencies programmed in, make sure the bank is turned on (press the number of the bank and it should appear on the top line of the display)

Nothing is programmed in any channels in any banks in a new scanner. Press a number, then program a frequency per directions in the manual. This will unlock that bank for scanning.

You guys are great. Ya' know, the manual isn't that clear. That seems to have done the trick. My local Radio Shack programmed the scanner for my area, but I guess that was just the search frequencies. Thanks again.

I'll give you the same advice I give lots of others. Buy the Cable (20-289 or equivallent from other sources), DL Win95 (it's FREE), find a file for your area (of a Yahoo group for the PRO-95), load it into your scanner, and you're 95% done. You may want to tweak the file for your likes, but that's the fastest/easiest way to get started. The cable is $25 at RS, as little as $10 off eBay (recent auctions were on for $11), and $15 from other sources. Even at $25, it will be the best money you've ever spent. A lot of people pay more than that for both the SW and cable for other scanners.

BTW, {GRIN!} the URL for WIN95 is:

http://www.starrsoft.com/freeware/win95/default.asp

And... While it *is* `freeware' and most people figure that they don't need to pay for it it *is* a good idea to at least drop Don a `note' thanking him. (I *know* it sounds a bit `picky' and `nannyish' to say the above. But! For all that Don has done, and is doing, for those of us who use the new RS GRE radios it is the *very least* we users can do when we take advantage of those programs he's put into `freeware'! [I don't know if you have gone and made a search for radio programming / control software and taken notice of the prices out there. If you have, have you compared what other people are asking VS what Don is asking? On those programs he's *selling* he's giving us one heck of a good deal! So... *My* reasoning here is that `showing appreciation' by dropping him a thank you note for the `freeware' stuff is one of the best ways we can thank him for that *and* the good deal he is giving us on the `payware'. It is a `social lubricant' that seems to be in short supply these days and it would be great if we could bring it back even if it is only in just this one small spot.])

Just an `Olde Fart's' 2¢ worth. {WAN GRIN!}

( Got to pick on Don )

With all the Joking aside...He has done a lot so a thank you or a tip would make his day!

Pro 95 / UNDO

I lost my notes on how to label a whole conventional bank. I did it, but now want to undo it. I decided that I like it better when only one text shows on the display (per channel). Thanks in advance for any help.

I have mine set up the same way in the trunked banks but in the conventional mode, let say for HAM radio, I still had to list bank 5 as HAM radio. but each channel such as 501, 502, etc, had the frequency ID as there call sign.
It looks like this:

M501.....+FM
925.00000
KA0MR 35 CM
HAM Radio

The bottom tag line never changes, the 3rd line changes with the frequency. You Tag the line by PGM and TEXT buttons for every channal you want to tag or by PC.

I hope thats what your looking for....If you want to un-lable it, I guess you wouldn't want to put the Tag up at all or delete the existing tag entirely the same way you put it on. I'll play with mine to day and see if I could find the same problems your having.

1. Manually select the 00 channel in the desired bank.
2. Press PGM
3. Press FUNC + 7 (the cursor appears at the beginning of the third line)
4. Press the down arrow 11 times moving the cursor to the last letter
5. Press CLR then UP repeatedly until all are clear
7. Press ENTER

This procedure is on pages 47 and 48 but does not include step 4 above, though if any blanks are in the text, the DOWN arrow will need to be pressed twice to pass through the blank spot. Using step 4 makes it easier.

Hi Frank,

Question:
In the software version, couldnt he just leave the Bank tag line Blank?
Wouldnt that help him if he was using StarrSoft program?

Hello Buckskinner,

You hit send ahead of me. Yes, Win96 is the easier method to get rid of the bank tag. I personally would keep the tag.

That worked perfectly, Thanks!
