Does anyone know where to get a programming Cable for the pro 95
Or a Part number?
I have the US. Radio Shack part # 20-048 but that part # doesn't work here in Ontario ... not the radio shacks I called anyway ....

Thanks

I just bought a cable for my pro 95, at first I bought a black cable it didn't work so I looked up the proper cable to use on the website. I returned the black cable and got a white cable.

I'm sorry I don't know the part # but hopefully that will help you out, also you can order parts off of the radio shack website.

A part of the original post that seems to be ignored so far is that he is in Canada. RS will not sell scanners or scanner accessories in Canada. So, you will have to order the cable from some other source. Take a look at Don Starr's Web Site for sources of acceptable cables. :)

I have been debating on getting a cable for my Pro-95 but I was wondering if I had to have any special divers for the cable or will it just recognize it through Win95?

The reason that I ask is because the black cable comes with a CD-ROM but its not compatible with Windows XP and as another poster mentioned, won't work with the Pro-95.

Thanks ahead of time for any info.

I have been using this cable for over a year now running Windows XP and using Don Starr's software

http://www.scannercables.com/

Just download the free version of win 95 from Don's site: http://www.starrsoft.com/ install the program, and you are set to go.

and install it. Hook up the cable to the com port on the back of your PC and you are set to go.

I received a PRO-95 as a gift. New to scanning. I see the benefits of buying a cable and using the computer. Does the software suggested to download work with XP? Does it contain frequencies or do I still need to purchase a book. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

The Win95 software at Don Starr's site does not contain frequencies. It is just used for you to enter the frequencies that you want in your radio. Now as to the source of your frequenies; before you do that, I suggest you click the link at the top of the this page that says RR Database. Once you get there, click on your state, then your county and see what we have here for you to use. That is what we are here for. :D

I ordered a cable from Radio Shack last week and it came this morning. It works awesome. It sure is a lot easier than programming it by hand. I recommend it to anyone that is considering getting one. It is worth the money.
