Hi all,

Here are some real stupid questions.

I just got a Pro 95 and cant program it to trunk. Conventional was a snap.

I want to listen to a UHF-LO system and Montgomery County PA 800MHz system. Both are Motorola.

For the 400MHz system.

I figured out how to enter the base, spacing and step. But what do I do with the system frequencies? Control frequencies? What do I do with the second base frequency? How about the sysid?

For the 800MHz system.

Where do I put the system frequencies and talkgroups? What about the control frequencies?

Told you they were stupid questions. :?

Is there a Trunking For Dummies book?

I am using WIN95 but I cant get the damn thing to trunk! :(

Any and all help greatly appreciated!

But what do I do with the system frequencies? Control frequencies?

You just enter the control channels into the same bank you entered the base and offset into.

How about the sysid?

The System ID doesn't matter in programming the scanner. It's just technical stuff from the FCC.

Where do I put the system frequencies and talkgroups?

Put the Control Channels in a bank and program it for Motorola Trunking (see manual). When in program mode, hit FUNC+TRUNK. Then you can enter you IDs.

Hope This Helps! :D

Assuming this is Merck, In this scanner you will need to program the same freqs in two banks, use one of the settings for the first bank and the other set for the second.

These will also need to be set in two banks, one for the East Zone and the other for West. The database listing only indicates CC's for East, thus you will likely need to program all 8 West freqs in it's bank.

In Win95, make sure on the freq side of each bank under RXMode that you have MOT selected for each of the freqs. Also, above and to the right of the freq section, the Type Pulldown should be MOT. These settings apply for what may be four banks at this time, two for 800 and two with different settings for the UHF low banks.

Talkgroups for both the UHF lo and the 800 will apply the same in the respective banks. These are all Type II Mot systems so no changes need be made to the Fleetmap section. In Win95 you should see on the right side, a column with 0 through 4 each having a block for checking On. These are sub-banks for ID's. Each of these sub-banks have space for 20 ID's for a total of 100 ID's for the system (sub-bank 0 through 4). All can be alpha tagged. The 800 system has 88 Talkgroups in the Database so you can place them in both banks.

While putting this togather, I made a p96 file which can be easily made into p95 if needed.

Frank, why would he have to do that? The Pro-95 is a CC only scanner and as long as it is the same system (no talkgroup conflict) you can put as many sites in a single bank as you want.

The UHF info you provided is quite correct, since you can't put more than one setup per bank.

Agreed Lou,

Just concerned about the West site freqs listing without a CC. But they can be in the bank with East site should one or more be a CC also.
These two systems are similar except Chesapeake VA has all in one site but use the East/West PD Dispatch with common Fire/Ems from one dispatch point. In contrast, Montgomery CO PA has East/West dispatch for both agencies. Admittedly, the latter has 5 or 6 times the population with similar area sizes.
