PRO 95 question

i am thinking of buying a pro 95 but someting is bothering me.
in the description on radio skacks web site, it says you can scan non-trunked presets......my question is, can you scan trunked systems that you save just as you can with the pro 2052? i was under the impression that the 95 and 2052 were the same, only one was was mobile.

In SCAN mode, only things that you have saved will be scanned.
Otherwise no activity until you are programmed.

Do you mean does it swing back and forth from trunk to conventional
on the fly ?
Older RS scanners don't. I know the 2052 does not
Someone else can answer for the 95.

Unidens do alternate though.

Errrrr the Pro 2052-2000 can scan trunked and conventional systems at the same time.

If there was a trunked system in my area, I could listen that while listening to a conventional VHF / UHF transmission if I wanted to. Or so the manual says.

The Pro-95 can do conventional and trunking at the same time, with both types within the same bank.

My Pro-2052 and Pro-2050 will do EITHER trunking or conventional, but not both at the same time as my -95 (and 96) will.

The only thing I miss on the -95 is the CT/DCS decode, but the 96 has it :wink:

The Pro-2052 is NOT the mobile version of the -95, though.

Isn't this something that seperated "Trunktracker" from "Trunktracker II" when they develped it?

I was thinking that the original trunktracker scanners did not have the ability to scan conventional and trunked systems at the same time, then they developed the Trunktracker "II" which was in the Pro 95 and the Uniden BC245xlt and ever since then we've had Digital and Trunktracker "III" has been out, and now VI is fixing to be released.

Does anyone even remember the days of just the first trunktracker type? lol...

It's amazing how far we've come in just a few short years with scanners. Now if they can just tackle that damned PROVOICE stump in the road!

Believe it or not, I'm very guilty of that. My county and city's department has been using a Motorola Trunked system FOREVER. I know over 12 years now. They started out with a TYPE I system, and then upgraded to a Type II Smartzone and now they're an Type II Smartnet with APCO25. But back in tha day, they use to have 5 repeaters, 1 control channel, so that was only 4 frequencies that needed to be scanned.

I used a PRO 51 which I still have stored in my closet. It was my first 800mhz scanner and I would monitor everything that came across the system and believe it or not, it was fairly easy to keep track of who was on the air. I was (am still) very use to each agency talking just by listening to their radio procedures, and voice recognition of their dispatcher and unit callsigns. But when they went from a 5 repeater to a 12 repeater with mixed analog/digital talkgroups I had to stop doing it the old school way. That's when I broke down and bought a BC-785d.

I see radio shack has the PRO 95 on sale right now at 149 bucks. And that is very tempting to me right now. Even though it doesn't do digital I could still track a lot of analog stuff. I'm thinking about getting one just to have one. My 785d is locked in an office being used as my ONLINE SCANNER so I don't have one to carry around.
