Finally got a cable setup for my 95. Salesman recommended Scancat, but I think there is a better one by Don?. Can I get some opinions, links to the software? Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys. Downloaded it, BUT how in the heck do you use it. Are there instructions anywhere?
Not sure if there are detailed instructions anywhere, but it is pretty straight forward. I mean between the menu choices and the tabs on the screen all you have to do is fill in the right blanks and write to the radio. If you have anything in your radio already, first read the radio into the software and you will get an idea comparing what you see with what you did. :)

Thanks Lou / I'm not as stupid as I sound, but where are the read & write tabs? I haven't plugged in the cable & configured anything yet. Will that bring up a different window? I'm just the paranoid type, and would not be happy if I erased the 200 tg's I have in there now.

Ah, not your fault, I wasn't as clear as I should have been. The Upload (to the scanner) and Download (from the scanner) are under the "Scanner" menu item at the top. Also, most of your editing work will be done on the "Channels" tab. Note that you have to change the little "Bank" window to see each of the 10 banks.

OK Lou / One more paranoid question. Does it matter if I'm on or offline when I use the software?
The software and all the data are local to your computer. (Once you have the softrware of course.)

So if I'm online and get an email or something, it wont affect what I'm doing?

Jerry
Not unless your email program blows up and freezes your computer, Jerry. :)

First thing you do, once you have everything connected and running is Scanner/Download, then File/Save as. Then you have the current scanner state saved to your computer, so if you mess up, you can always open that file and upload it to the scanner. (Name it something like "Original Backup". Make a copy of it, name the copy "XXX County", or whatever you want, and use that to work with. [File/Open to load the new file.])

Computer & operator are strange, but I'm going to go offline now, and give it a try. Thanks for your help.
