I have the Pro-95 scanner and have been able to easily use the text feature for the "conventional" freqs. My question is, is there a way to also text identify the different talkgroups? So instead of MO2391 I can text Salem PD or Salem FD??? I have not found in the manual any helpful information concerning that topic. Is this something that can be done on this model? Would appreciate any information you can pass along.
Thanks!

Yeah, it is definetely in the manual. Just hit func+trunk. That should bring up the ID list. Select the ID you want to tag, and hit TEXT, and enter the tag.

Hope This Helps,

If you have a computer and a programming cable, it makes life so much easier doing it that way.

The software is free to download, you just need to goto RS and pick up the programming cable.

Another thing I noticed you have to do once you assign text tags to the talkgroups is actually turn this feature on by pressing "TEXT" when it stops on a talk group. You can hit "TEXT" to either show the alpha tag or the talk group, it will toggle between both modes.

I agree with diskmonger. With you puter and you use the program that he told you about. You will need a programing cable from R/S product number is 20-289. Dont buy the program that R/S sales with a cable also it will not work. With win95 program it is extreamly ez to do. HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all for the tips.

Here's something that just is driving crazy! I have entered all of the fire frequencies from my scanner books and other sources. I have entered in the TGs, yet my scanner keeps picking up the city bus service-even though I did not type in the TGs for it. Any ideas on what's causing this !~!~)@(!~#(~+_)@|! situation? Thanks!

On the 92 you have to be scanning and in the closed mode for it to obey the "listen to this talk group only" setup.

Are you scanning and is the bank on closed mode?

To get it in closed mode for the back hit Func 5 while in that bank. This allows just the IDs you have entered to show up. After you do this and start scanning you will see - instead of a + under the bank number you are scanning. Here is an easier to understand manual for the 93,95, and 2053. Here is the Radio shack programming cable. You can order them off of some website and wait a few days, or get it from RS today  Don't let the geniuses at RS sell you another cable and tell you that it will work, it won't.

thanks from Mr. Barbecue

Thanks for the help. Got the banks "closed" much improved enjoyment of the scanning experience, now that I don't have to listen to public works talk about pumps and solids! :-o!

Been hearing all kinds of good stuff lately.
