Pro-95 Troubles

OK, I'm still a newby with this radio, but I'm having trouble listening to the trunking frequencies that I've spent hours plugging in. I can hear them if I change them manually, but once I hit the scan button, I don't hear any of them. I know there are "live" frequencies on the air, but unless I punch them up manually, I don't hear them.

Radio Shack is baffled by this query. Can anyone help here?? Thanks in advance.

I'm just guessing here, but is this an EDACS system? If so, the channel order is important. Let us know what system you're trying to monitor.

In addition to what AZ said, make sure you have both the channels set to MOT or ED as well as the bank set to MOT or ED.

hitting SEARCH you should have talk group ID's appear.

Are you at least seeing
- - - - -
on your display ?

If you are hitting SCAN and your display shows
1 -----
that means your scanner is ready for you to program a talk group for the
first spot in the scan lists
I like to monitor in SEARCH mode as opposed to SCAN as some times
talk groups are "patched" and I don't want to miss anything .

This is for an RS scanner, not a Uniden. If you don't have any ID's entered in, put the bank in open mode by going to the bank in manual mode and press Func then 5 or Func then 2 ( I get my 92 and 95 mixed up, can't remember which one it is.).

Good point scanfan03, I was relaying RS info as he mentioned enquiring with Radio Shack about this issue in his original post.

But nevertheless your info will help someone with a Uniden model who
encounters the same problem.

Uhhh, no you weren't. You were relaying Uniden information, useless for a Pro-95. scanfan03 was correct, put the radio in OPEN mode and see what you hear. Of course AZScanner was even more on the money. If we knew what you were trying to listen to, we could be a lot more specific.

:lol: Not really. SEARCH on a Pro-95 (indeed all of the GRE trunk tracking scanners) puts the radio into service search mode. This is where the scanner scans the pre-defined frequencies of different parts of the spectrum. For example, CB, MARINE, POLICE, FIRE, etc. It really doesn't have anything to do with Trunking as there is no place to hold a TG ID so you can't track.

:lol: What you are suffering from is a malady that I also suffer from; excessive radio exposure. Sometimes I can't remember how to tune my HF rig and I only have two of them. :lol:
