I hate radio shack crap the thing will not even reset to all 0's

Any idea's I have followed the manual and still no luck

INITIALIZING THE
SCANNER
1. Turn off the scanner, then turn
it on again. Welcome To Dual
Trunking appears. !

2. Press 0 then 1 while Welcome
To Dual Trunking appears.
Initializing Please Wait. appears
for about 2 seconds.

Do not turn off the scanner until
the initialization is complete.When
the initialization is complete M000
appears on the top line of the
display. Bank 0 Ch 00 appears on
the bottom line.

did that it just starts scanning, like nothing happened

works fine on my pro-95, just did it as I typed this post. Either your doing something wrong, or your scanner is broken! Try holding the 0 while pressing the 1.

I'm lucky enough to be programming this for a co-worker but its no Uniden 796D!!!! now thats a system!!!! meanwhile this P.O.S sucks

sorry for bad talk about the pro-95 but I really hope the Pro-96 is better than this junk

Its junk for you because it seems that you do not know how to operate it. They take some time to get used too after using a uniden. If it helps, you could always use win95 to program it.

gotta press the reset button...
turn on hit reset button on side.. it the tiny hole above the ac adapter plug that will restore all back to factory i belive if you want to "format" it for good so its like when you bought it nothing at all hold 0 and press 1 on start up after your hit reset button

The RESET button does NOT erase the memory. It simply resets the scanner, as you would a computer. The key combo given RE-INITIALIZES the scanner, like reformatting the hard-drive in your computer...
