I purchased one at radioShack for $499.99.
I also have a pro39 that seems to pick up the trunked systems better
Im new to this type of scanner.Hope someone can help with a question or two. when programming I have what came with the scanner still programmed they come up as lets say 400-01 when i program in a seperate bank the same freq it just accepts as 33823 not 400-01 ?is there a function im missing.Im still reading the manual and alot of it is like reading chinese to me.
Im missing approx. 65% of transmissions set side by side with just 20 channels scanning and the rest locked out
looks like a great scanner but perhaps im not ready for such advancements in technology.

I HIGHLY reccomend you download win96 from www.starsoft.com

It will allow you to program your scanenr from your pc.

You will need to purchase a 25 dolar cable from radio shack but it is more than worth it. It is product number 20-289 DO NOT let them sell you any other cable. None of them work. 20-289 is what you need.

This will help you tremendously.

As for your poblem.
The differences are in the types of systems you are programming in. Take a look onthe first page of this site. there is a wealth of information on trunking and how it all works.

I am still learning new things everyday but you will really need to apply yourself and buckle down on it and you will have it all digested in no time.

Good luck..

Don't sell yourself short. With time you'll get the hang of it.
If you are missing transmissions, then you are missing some frequencies.
What trunk system are you monitoring? If you can let us know then someone can steer you in the right direction as far as programming is concerned.

That 400-01 looks like a Moto I system, with an agency and subfleet ID.
If it isn't a Type I system then the 33xxx ID is probably the correct ID.

Just buy one on eBay for $10 - EXACT same cable. I second the Win96 recommendation.

Whoa, since when does Scanner Master sell RS products? I'm gonna be a happy camper. Now I wanna see the pocket PC and remote head schtick available for the RS stuff too.
