Couldn't decide if I should post this in Programming or here, flipped coin and went here...

My Pro-96 used to go dead with no warning. Now that I have Alpha Tags programmed I'm warching the display A LOT more and seeing "Battery Low" coming-up before it goes to trying to reboot.

(ONCE I was able to plug in PS and continue without rebooting! Now that's a first! Reackon I caught it early enough....)

Question is, can I get it to do a beeping or other audio-warning like my Pro-91 does when Low Battery first occurs??

(Have Win96)

Thanks, and 73's,
Jon

My 96 has always beeped when the battery gets to the Lo level, it will just give a beep every so often. As how to enable it if yours does not do this I am not really sure, sorry.

Bucko-
Thanks for response. I hope it's possible to get beep.
(Of course this may depend on the revision of our Pro96 models...)

Patin,
Damn fine suggestion! Wonder if this is something I've missed in Win96?
Will explore...

You can turn the beep on via the keyboard. When the scanner is first turnned on (showing the start screen), press the number 1 on the keypad. That will turn the beep off and on.

I have the same issue....when I have rechargeable batteries in my 96 it just shuts on and off, every second or two. If I have regular batteries in it, it will beep and flash low battery for a split second.

Well, after Jeff's excellent advice I'm still waitng for low battery, which will occur in a day or two.

Interesting that tatertot and patin have dissimiliar behavior. I'll post my findings when they occur.

T-
Groovy, 1800 mAH something-or-other here I buy on-sale in large lots for 99 cents per!
(Get them from parts supplier during sale I just couldn't pass on it.)
They are doing a really good job despite low cost. I use them in 2 scanners, a multi-band, a flashlight, a room freshener, my mouse, digital camers, and I can't remember what other
AA applicaions.
At this price I just took the minium buy and have batts out the wazoo. They are NiMH...

But back to subject, I really doubt it has to do with batt type. I have the "low battery level" set to 4.1V, if memory recalls- results amy vary at my age/milage...

That being said, we'll know soon as I now have "keypad tone" where I didn't before- THANKS JEFF! Way cool and concise post by Jeff- way it oughta-be!
Will post when batts go low...

UPDATE: With Battery High at 4.63V and Battery Low at 4.19V, on Win96 I get 5 beeps, about 5 minutes, before it becomes dead.
Current batteries are 4X 1800mAH...

Seems like a "fair warning" setting with current, no pun intended, batteries.
