Pro-96: Pro 96 Blank screen but scans & receives

A friend has a Pro 96 and all of a sudden the screen is blank. Nothing. It receives and scans but nothing shows on the screen. Any idea what happened? I don't live close so I can't just try a reset to see if this will clear things up or not. Do you think a reset would help? Any other suggestions?

save whats on the radio first, then do a reset.

Have you tried adjusting up the light for the screen ? you should find the brightness adjustment in the manual.

On Page 113 of the manual, it says, " pressing the reset button does not clear the scanners working memory or the V-Scanner folders" so I don't think that will cause a problem. Now to meet with the owner and see what happens.

In the manual -

Changing the Display Contrast​

1. Press MANUAL.​

2. Press FUNC then 9.​

Use Up/Down keys to set contrast appears in the​

scanner’s display.​

3. Press up arrow​

or down arrowto adjust the contrast.
4. Press ENTER to set the display contrast.

If that doesn't work hopefully it is just a loose connection cable to the display and the connection could be reseated?

This is a fairly common problem with the PRO-96, I have had three of them lose the screen. The problem usually is the ribbon connection from the screen to the board. You must be careful of the two lock tabs as they will break easily. To get to them you must separate the two boards.
