Hi everyone. I am listening to a P25 trunked system in Colonie, NY. It comes in 98% on the scanner, but occassionally the scanner will just 'miss' the key up for lack of a better term. In other words, I just hear the raw digital data for no reason. It then grinds to the control channel noise and stops. This only started after the latest update. Anyone else have ideas?

It's called "motorboating" - a quick search here on that term will help plus make sure you have the latest firmware.

Actually several of us have found out the second from the last DSP firmware update for the PRO-96 deals with the particular problem better than the latest.

DSP 1.3 is actually worse in some cases for the motorboating issue. Try DSP 1.4 first to see if it resolves your problem.

Here in ILL on the Starcom system the 800mgz towers are perfect on my PRO96/2096 with 1.2 firmware, 1.3 and 1.4 were much worse....My Opinion

Never use 1.3 -- 1.4 was 1.3 with a bugfix.
