Pro 96 Conventional APCO-25 Problem

The pro 96 has a problem manual sitting on a APCO-25
Channel the radio does not mute the signal i seen this on 2 pro-96
the not muteing is a faint open noise but when on an amp-specker
it keep the power always on i tryed firmware upgrade and still have problem
any one noted this may a future firmware upgrade correct this problem

First, what is an amp-specker?
Second, the firmware upgrade is the Pro-106. It replaced the 96 quite a few years ago.
The 96 was notorious for 'motorboating' when losing the digital signal.

As noted in another post here, if it is an encrypted TGID, and you are paused, or manually stopped on it, it will allow the noise to keep the amplified speaker on. If it is one of the CC frequencies, there will always be a digital noise present (the data being read by the scanner). Or, maybe tightening the squelch knob a bit until it quiets the signal. You might give us a bit more info:)

These are two type P25 Systems that use a Pro-96, Pro-2096, Pro-197, Pro-106, and PRO-18 and have no problems listening to.
