Pro-96 CRASHED

HOLY CRAP! I just tried turning on my Pro-96 and it is stuck at the DSP Loading Boot: F1.0 screen! Anybody seen this before? I can't believe it crapped out on me like this.

Yea , sometimes it gets stuck on that screen with mine. Usally If I just turn it off and back on againg it goes back to normal.

Sometimes it happens it the batteries are dead also.

I dont know why it does that.

batteries arent dead and i tried turning it off and turning it on again and its still doing it. I tried resetting the radio and it did nothing....

Any one have any idea how much its gonna cost be to send this off for repair?

Sorry Lou I didnt know whether it should have been in the sticky or not and it is out of warranty. I purchased it on 3-13-04

Sorry it is out of warranty. I seem to remember somebody commenting about this sometime in the past but couldn't find the post and hence can not remember what the solution was, but I don't think it took a repair. :?

yea it sounded familiar to me to but I can't think of anything else to do so I guess I'll run by radio shack tomorrow.

I saw one do that. I recommended he return it for replacement. Try squeezing the sides near the front of the case, or try squeezing the front and rear cases in the middle.

Not sure what is causing it, but it could be a cold solder joint on some component.

UPDATE: For furture reference the Service Center advised the PCB Board went bad. Cost for repair is 280.

just got my radio back and its working great. The new specs are as follows:

CPU 1.4
DSP-app 1.2
DSP-voc 1.0

Try squeezing the sides near the front of the case, or try squeezing the front and rear cases in the middle.

Mine had some major audio problems, the volume was almost non-existant, and you had to squeeze the thing to make it produce sound. I opened it up, and there was just a little plug with two prongs serving the sound output to speaker and earphone, and it wasn't plugged in all the way.

I just snapped it back together, and put the screws in, and it now works good as new.

Ya'll remember when I sold that damaged 96? The gentleman that bought it was able to exchange it for a brand new one. Go figure...

How did he do that? Take it to the local RadioShack and ask for another one?
