Pro 96-Detatched Grip

Does anybody a way to re-glue the grip back on to te side of the pro 96. It fell off on mine and it loks ugly besides the fact that's it's also sticky. But for the life of me it's not going back on. Just not ennough stick. HELP!!!!

Go to www.thistothat.com. Put in the two materials you want to glue together and it will tell you what to use to glue it back together.

I think I would try contact cement or adhesive designed to reattach automotive weatherstripping.

Sparingly used, 2-ton epoxy should bond the two pieces with no worries of separation again.

stupid question here... did anyone figure out what will hold the strips to the scanner body? mine just feel off and the contact cement that holds anything won't stick to the strip or the scanner.... two-sided tape is a temporary fix at this point...

That happened to my PRO-95 last year, too. I used Ultimate Glue made by Elmer's - Polyurethane. It's industrial strength. I bought it at Home Depot, I think it was $7 or $8. Fixed the problem quickly. 8)

Construction Adhesives

Has anyone try using Construction Adhesive this stuff is like harder then rock and will bond to just about anything that it touches.

thanx gatorhater.... if it was merely a cosmetic thing i wouldn't bother but i noticed a hole in one side of the case that opens right onto a board... gotta keep that covered at least....

There is also a glue called Gorilla Glue, that stuff will not let you down.You can get it at Auto-Zone.

Thanks for all the options guys, mine did this too and I wasn't sure what glue to use. Of course, now I need to find the grip again...

Yeah very common problem. This happened again to my other 96 (I posted this originally over a year ago) I saved my grip, but have been to lazy to do anything about it.

i too have lost one of the errant grips--all three fell off mine... and i have no idea now where it is. time to call my radioo shack guy and order some new ones perhaps...or find an old inner tube...

I've found that "Goop" seems to work best. However, like pretty much everything else suggested here, you *do* have to use it sparingly and not get it any place other than where you need it. Oh, yeah... And again like most of the other things suggested here you *do* have to *carefully* clean *both* surfaces before trying to put them back together! {GRIN!} (I use some stuff I bought for removing sticky labels, has sort of a `citrusy?' smell to it, followed by some `EverClear' to make certain I've gotten it and anything else that may still be there. [While my rubber grip panels haven't, knocking on wood, fallen off all the units where that's happened and I've re-attached them haven't after going through those steps and using `Goop".])

i will probably use some hardcore glue if radio shack sends new grips... if not i will keep whining until they listen... meanwhile i gotta cover one of the huge holes that leads to the guts of the radio.... i use the thing outside regardless of weather so that hole is just a faucet dripping on the board.....

guess there will now develop a black market in pads to fit the pro 95 and pro 96.... when the pro 97 comes in i guess i will need to rip those pads off and glue them as well.....

update: i took a copy of all the emails telling me they didn't stock the pads as replacements to the manager at my favorite rat shack... he is going to involve his district manager and maybe get someone to think abouthose of us who have radios that are falling apart at the pads (and other places)....
