I am curious if others with a Pro-96 are having display contrast problems. On mine I have the display contrast set to the max but it is not very readable. On occasion the contrast works fine and can be set to the normal position but mostly has to be set to the max position to be legible. Tried resets and re-initializing numerous times with no improvement. Getting ready to send it out for repair.

I have hundreds of hours on mine and it is as good as the day I got it. A lot of those hours are with the backlight on also and other than the screen protecter I put on when it was new starting to get a little dirty my display is great.

Are you wearing sunglasses when your looking at the display. I know someone else was having the same problem while wearing polarized sun glasses.

It may also be that he has it in the sun alot that would cause it to look like that.

I forgot mine sitting on the seat of my truck in the hot sun one day last summer while I went into the shop for lunch. It sat in the sun for about 1/2 hour and when I came back out you could see nothing. The display looked like it was burnt to a crisp. I turned it off for awhile and when I fired it back up all was back to normal.

I have had this happen to some of my cell phones displays when exposed to the sun to long.

I had a similar problem with my Pro-96 display going kerflooey. I would power it up, I cannot remember what it would do, but I know it wouldnt work right. It was less than a year and RS fixed it under their limited warranty. Also did the firmware upgrade at the same time..

Cheers

I had the same problem with mine, sent it off(twelve days for repair) and it worked for a week.
Then same prob again no display. Ater going round and round with Radio Shack, they gave me a new one. Now the new one seems to be deaf to 800mhz for some reason, but picks up other freqs fine. Now I have to complain again and hope for the best!

I live in Phoenix Az. and I leave mine in the car all the time in the 116+ weather. My display has not crapped out yet.

Well out here when you go to work during the day and have no other place to put it, it stays int he car. Same if I go shopping, I do not carry it in the stores with me. So far so good. (knock on wood) I can't leave it running with the ac on or they will steal it.

Display problem

I have the same problem with my display. I am not sure if it started after my cat knocked it to the floor one day or not. I assume I'll have to send it in eventually for repair. it is still usable.
