Just received mine on May 3rd from Radio Shack Direct2u and I see it on my unit also. Bottom Line 7th Pixel block over with left part touching part of 6th Pixel block.

More noticable with light on but text is not distorted.....

Advise what you find out....regards, Jack

This is a norm on alot of PRO 92, 93, 95 and 96 scanners. None of mine have had it but there have been many reports of this "spot".

MY 95 has a spot in the display near the bottom, but the 96 doesn't. The spot does not have any affect on the reading the display, in fact the only time you see it is when the back light is on.

The 'spot' is caused by the light diffuser not being in its proper placement. That's the white piece of plastic that sits between the LCD and the logic board. If you're brave, you can fix it yourself, although it is a little tricky to get it lined up properly since the LCD is connected to the logic board. If you choose to try this, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. I've fixed several that had that problem.

If you're not completely comfortable in doing this, return your unit for another if you're in the 30 day period.

It's been reported as dirt of the diffuser and other issues, but the problem is the simple alignment of the diffuser - not dirt.

I would take your brand new scannner back and ask for another.
They shouldn't give you any problems. If it is past the warrenty period
and the spots are not tolerable anymore you can always send it to
Texas rapair center. For a fee of course.

Why do that if the spot is now gone?

With the shaking, the diffuser probably seated itself in the proper place. There is a place where it will fit snugly into.
