I have been told that the frequency coverage of the Pro 96 can be increased to cover the 700 MHz and military aircraft bands but the 700 MHz band will not offer trunked capability. Can anyone confirm this and if it is possible what steps do I need to make this modification.

However keep in mind that since the radio wasn't originally designed for it, your sensitivity could vary all over the place - to very good or deaf as a post.

No way to tell...Mike

I opened up my Pro-96 for milair and was generally disappointed with the performance between 280-320 MHz. At the "edges" of the milair range, the -96 was a good performer; that is, below about 250MHz and above 350MHz. My local fighters used 235.250, which the -96 received with no problem, for example. ATC used 282.200 which the -96 struggled to receive. All in all, a really sweet radio but not the best at milair, IMHO.

Butel's ARC96 will also allow this to be done however as the above posts warn YMMV.
