Not an expert, but have been dealing with the same issue but different scanner. What they told me here is that something switched up months back, and the solution appears to be a yagi antenna aimed directly at the tower to pick up PD.

I dont believe my or your problem is an antenna. My problem is that when I enter only the Control Channels it just locks on the CC with a lot of noise, no voice..when I lock out the CC, I can hear the dispatch and car but it doesent TrunkTrack. Beats Me.

your programing something wrong

your doing something wrong. are you hand programing or pc programing? If you are hand programing call me and I will pc program it for you! call 480-246-1229 ask for tom. or call me and I can give you some things to try. Antenna has nothing to do with it. I use a rubber ducky on my base station and have no problem.

Are you listening to the White Tank Mountains site? or the Thompson Peak site? If so, the Pro-96 cannot do 700 trunking and that's your problem.

If not. How did you enter the rebanded tables? By hand? won't work. By Win96? Are you listening to the Mesa Simulcast site? If so.....that is not a rebanded site and should work with "normal" settings.

What are you using to program your 96?

An antenna has everything to do with it, large simulcast systems cause horrible multipath distortion. A scanner has a hard time being able to deal with signals hitting it at slightly different times from different towers. A Yagi would help, but would your scanner pretty much non portable. Problem is you may be in an area that's being hit with multiple tower locations and the scanner isn't able to lock on to a control channel.

That's what I was thinking. Isn't there anyone here from Mesa using a Pro-96? Kinda hard to provide detailed help when your more than 1000 miles away.

I used to live in Mesa near Brown and Lindsay and used to provide the East Valley feed with Mesa PD included. I didn't have to use a yagi to receive Mesa, but did for my Phoenix PD feed. For Mesa I just had to move an 800mhz rubber duckie around until I found a "sweet spot". I was probably lucky though and a yagi aimed close to the direction of a tower would definitely help.

Antenna is not the problem..Because..I never seen a Yagi on a Patrol Car. it has to be the scanner itself..being it is old technoligy, but does say it recieves and decode Digital (but what type). OH WELL THIS SUCKER IS FOR SALE..

There is a big difference between a $500.00 scanner and $5000.00 Motorola that is designed by Motorola and programmed by radio techs to receive 700/800MHZ simulcast P25 systems vs a scanner that while can receive P25 isn't specifically designed for it. You can try any scanner currently on the market and you MAY have better results, but it won't be the same as a Motorola or professional grade radio. Then again there could be something wrong with your scanner. Try moving it around or getting close to some towers and see if it picks anything up if it's programmed correctly.
