Pro-96 Manual Talkgroup selection question

I am having trouble manually selecting a specific talkgroup ID on the Pro-96. On my BC796D, all I have to do is hold an ID and then I can easily scroll thru the rest to any specific ID I want, even if its not currently active. Is there a way to do this with the Pro-96? I know I can hold a talkgroup if its active but what about if its not? Any ideas???

PGM+TRUNK this gives you acces to the ID bank. Then scroll through the bank/s and hit FUNC+TRUNK to select that ID monitor. While scrolling through the ID banks you can hit TRUNK to skip to the first slot of the next ID bank ect. ect.

While this works, IMO you should not use the PROGRAM mode except to program. Using this short cut can lead to an "opps". I think using (from SCAN mode) the <MAN> <FUNC> <TRUNK> keystrokes to get to the trunking bank in scroll mode is better since you can't foul up anything already programed. It is after all just one additional keystroke. 8)

The original poster probably meant to ask if it is possible to scroll through the ID's manually once you are already holding on one like you can with a Uniden scanner. To answer that question, no you can't. You have to go therough the whole process all over again of going from New Jersey to New York via Moscow by pressing scan, program, trunk, scrolling through the ID's, and pressing function and trunk again. On the Uniden scanners, you can simply turn the scroll wheel one click to go to the next trunked channel. GRE does make excellent scanners, but this trunked channel selection process can be pain at times, especilly while driving. This is really my only beef with GRE scanners. In all other areas they are great.

Just a quick note...

EITHER WAY:

PGM, TRUNK or MAN, FUNC, TRUNK

will result in the same thing. You can make changes to the ID list no matter which way you use to get there...

This is true, I was more referring to screwing up before you got to the bank. You see I managed to erase a frequency on the way one time and have been gun shy ever since.
