I don't know what to make of this. I have 2 Pro 96 scanners & a 2096, analog receiving is fine on all 3 units (all programed the same) but receiving digital is really strange here in central Indiana.
Between the 3 scanners some will pick up the digital transmission the others will not pick it at all it is really hit & miss. I have just received back a Pro 96 under warranty and it bench tested ok according to the tech,I explained to the tech by TX what the scanner is doing on the digital side & the tech decided to replace the RF board but it is still hit & miss on the digital receive side.
I would have never known this until I had all the scanners side by side.
Any ideas or suggestions on what to do before the extended warranty is out?

Thanks

I use two 2096's on the desk and noticed this on the MARCS system when I first got them, one would stop on a TG while the other would keep on scanning on by (if this is what you mean?). I tried one with just the primary control channels separated by a dummy FM freq while the other had all primary and secondary controls programmed. The one with the primary and secondary would be a hit and miss and the one with the primary would hit.

Yea, go take it back and have them send it back in again for repair. Mine is out on the 3rd trip to the depot. They can't get it right. I went as far as to sit another radio next to it in the store and transmit to it with my XTS5000 just to prove it wasn't working. Some girl in the store commented how it sounded like a horror movie. The manager agreed and sent it back yet again.

If it isn't fixed this time I won't leave until they give me a new one.

You have to keep on them. I think the repair depot is having issues with repairing the digital side of things for some reason.

How strong is the signal you are listening to? If the signal is weak, or there is a lot of local interference from nearby cell and/or Nextel sites, it could be causing you trouble. There are a few spots where such interference absolutely kills the digital voice on my PRO-96. If I turn on the attenuator, it sounds fine. Of course the site I am listening to is right down the street, literally. If you are a bit farther out and turn on the attenuator, it might not help at all; could even make things worse.
