My "new to me" Pro-96, up until today, has been scanning and talking just fine. I turn it on this morning and it appears to be scanning but obviously it's not finding anything. Nothing's changed - at least intentionally that is. Squelch is set just fine, but it's not stopping on any channels even though it's scanning like it was before. With the Buena Vista Correctional Facility nearby there's usually plenty of traffic out there that this radio is not picking up. On any band, any agency. I reloaded it from Win96 which went just fine. Didn't seem to help. Attenuate is not on. It's scanning but it's like: Lights On, Nobody Home. Did I whack some mystery key? What the heck? All I did was turn it on this morning. Any hints? Percussive Realignment? Can I try anything to test it?

I did post this Q. in Best Scanner for Colorado DTRS but I'll move over here where it's on-topic. I hope.

Thanks for any help

Put on only the rubber ducky and push WX and see if NOAA comes in. Also try using an earphone; sometimes the jack will not let the speaker work. Look at the signal level on the display and see if it shows anything. Open the squelch all the way and see if you can hear any white noise. If all those things do not seem right its' time to send it back to RS in Fort Worth.

Might be a squelch

Well, I've done the suggested checks. Thanks. It's like squelch dial is really touchy and is either full on, or not on at all, and no matter how you twiddle, it, even gently touching it. Might be a physical layer problem with the squelch. I dunno. It acts like it's either not listening, or totally squelched out. But I don't see anything in the Win96 that would be causing this. Does R/S do repair? I can just bet it'd cost more than a new radio...
