Funny, I am standing here looking at the sale tag right now. Anyway, I don't think the sale will post online until tomorow

I went and bought one today for 399. It is definitely on, although as posted above, you can't find a word about it on the website. They had to look it up in their computer to find it.

Too bad the local Radio Shacks in my area are all sold out of them and all they have available is the floor models. :?

Well then, is this price going to be good through the website, too?

I might take you up on that. As I asked in the other thread, is there any way to tell if you're buying the 1.3 version before you walk out of the store?

Look at the date code in the battery compartment. CPU 1.3 should be 08A04 or later, I believe. Of course, the easiest way to verify is by powering up the unit and holding the 3 key. That will display the firmware versions.

December 24th if I remember correctly from what the sign in the store read.

Just picked mine up a few hours ago. I searched every store in my city (5 stores). I was only able to find one new 3.1 version. The only other 3.1 version available at any of the stores was a floor model. All the other Pro-96 models were either floor models or 2.1 version CPU.

does it matter what firmware u have ?? also do u get it via win 96 or what ?? if its older firmware will it pick up digital still

The firmware update is only for a tg problem that very few systems use. No you cannot update the firmware with win96. Yes it will still pick up digital, thats what it was made for

You CANNOT pick up all digital with a F1.1 DSP formware radio. You have to upgrade to version 1.2 to track and decode CQPSK systems. You CAN upgrade the DSP firmware yourself, but not with Win96 - there is a dedicated program to update the DSP firmware.

The CPU firmware version 1.2 fixes the TG LO bug that prevents you from using channels above 4-08 for the lockout list, and version 1.3 fixes a bug that affects a few TGs. See here for details: http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=13119

I never said you could get all digital. Besides he was asking about firmware not the DSP upgrade.
