DUDE, It really is the zillion dollar ?? I have been trying to decide for months, so I will try to make it short. I HATE battery packs, but really want to here I-CALLS (296). Other than that, from what I can gather, the Pro96 kicks ass!

Jerry

PS / I still haven't bought one, because Denver is my main target, and my Pro94 is OK despite the fact that is OLD, and can't do trunked & conventional at the same time.

The PRO-96. Reason: I don't need LTR, but I do heavily use the V-folders in the 96 when I travel.

It all comes down to what features you need, as stated in the sticky topic.

As another poster commented: If money is not an object, BOTH. That way, you can use the appropriate one for the task.

It's not all that black and white. The 296 does NOT monitor I-calls on 9600 Motorola systems either. It will monitor I-calls on some systems, but not all, so I-Calls are not a complete litmus test.

krap.. I still can't figure this quote thing out, but I did not know the 296 does not do I-Calls on 9600 baud, however I THINK DENVER is the "other baud".
I can't really afford either unit right now, much less both like you rich dudes.....................................lol. It does sound like the Pro 96 is a nightmare to progam, COMPARED to the 296. I sure miss the old 453.900 enter days!

First, just make sure to start the quoted text with [qu ote] (without the space) and end it with [/qu ote] (again, without the space) and make sure each is a matched set. (every one has a matching other)

Also, Denver is EDACS, not Motorola.

The only thing to remember about any GRE is to hit the PGM button first. It's a little bit of a pain, but the other side of the coin is that it eliminates accidental overwrites of your programmed info. Trunked is a little worse on both units.

Joe

I thought only EDACS had I-Call. My note may have been confusing, but I monitor Denver 100% of the time.

Nope. Motorola systems have it, too. The 96 will track no I-calls, and the Unidens will track 3600 systems, but not 9600.

Still can't get the quote thing down, BUT, I HAVE NEVER HEARD I-CALL MENTIONED ON A MOTO SYSTEM.

OK, so they usually call it "Private Call" on Motorola systems, same difference....

I would definetly get the software, however I just had to buy a new TV today because my old one died. I'm hoping Santa will help me with a new scanner. How much does the software & cable cost?
