pro 96 scanning help.

Hello,

I have a Pro 96 handheld. I am trying to program the scanner and add trunk Frequency's..

Their are 2 towers. (Orange county ny)

Beacon
and
illinois/mount

I am really new to this programming stuff. I have had scanners in my house through out my life, but someone else programmed them.

Do I add BOTH towers to the same bank? Or do I need to program Beacon freq's and then the trunk ID'S to one bank and then do the same for Poughkeepsie??

What do I put the freq's under? Motorolla or edacs??

I am very confused. If someone could walk me through it and make this easier, I would really appreciate your help!

Do you have the cable to hook it up to your computer?

It might not be a bad idea to get it.

But this is really simple.
Is this the system you are talking about?
Scanner Frequencies: NYCOMCO (Ulster, Dutchess, Orange Public Safety) Trunking System, Various, New York

Start in Bank 0/Channel 1 and program in every frequency for 'Highland/Illinois Mountain'
then Go to Bank 1/Chan 1 and program in every freq for 'Mount Beacon'.

After you put it then first 1 for Ill Mt. change it to ED.
Then hit PGM Trunk and change it to EDACS with the mode button.
and if I remember right the rest should automatically change to ED.

After you have entered all the frequencies in Both Banks go back to Bank 0
Hit PGM Trunk
Start Typing in the IDs (AFS) that you want to hear/monitor.
After the ID hit Text and you can name them.

I don't know what Tower Poughk... uses so put all the TGs in both Banks.

Then Change it the scanner to closed mode and thats all you'll here.

just skip the Digital TGs..

I don't remember how to change the mode to closed.

Thank you so much for replying to me, and trying to help. I really Appreciate you taking your time to help me. I did as you told me and I get no talking on the radio. This is what I did---

I will use 1 tower as an example..

I pressed mode until EDACS appeared on the 3rd line. I entered all of the Frequencies for that tower. I then hit program - trunk and entered the talk groups.. The talk groups look like this (04-083, 04-084 etc.. and so on) When I hit enter after I enter the talk groups they show as a 4 (or 5 i forgot) digit number. Not as I typed it in. It's a totally different #.. I put them all in and hit scan.. It shows "scanning up" and I hear nada.. I also hit funtion 5 and closed the banks and nothing... So I am doing something wrong here.. This is frustrating me. I went to a new bank and did tower 2 with all of the same talk groups and it won't work either.

you need to put in the other number 4 or 5 digit...
i think you can change it but the other (3/4 digit) is easier anyways
