My Pro 96 is programmed with frequencies in Channels 1 through 9. When I turn on the unit it will scan Channels 2 through 9 but it hangs up on Channel 1. It will not scan 2 through 9 unless I remove Channel 1.

If I remove Channel 1 from the scan field it performs just fine, up or down.

If I hit Srch and hold the up or down arrow it will scan through Channel 1 before moving to the rest of the Channels.

On page 113 in the Owners Manual there is mention of Resetting the scanner. How do I select a test?
I do NOT want to erase the memory!

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Thank you.

When you say channels, do you mean banks 1-9? Each bank can hold 50 frequencies (channels). What do you have programmed in bank 1?

There are both tests and resets you can do. All of the reset options are destructive to working memory, so you must back up all banks first. See page 121 of the manual.

If you can provide more information, maybe one of us can help.

Yes, I do mean Banks instead of Channels. Each Bank is filled with frequencies in at least the first 10 Channels. In Bank 1 I have my local PD, in Bank 2 the neighboring city, in Bank 3 the County sheriff, and so on.

Are you speaking of the conventional, analog frequencies listed in the RR database? If so, there are a couple of frequencies that are using telemetry. The scanner will be confused by those signals and be 'stuck' listening to them.
If you are using the county EDACS system, you may not have all the frequencies programmed in Logical Channel Number, or LCN and this might cause a problem.

This unit has worked fine for quite a few years. The problem I am having is a recent malfunction.

Yes, I am using EDACS

I believe I have corrected the scanning problem by swapping the data in Bank 1 with Bank 0 and vice versa.
