Pro-96 Signal Strength Meter

When I first started using my Pro-96, I noticed that it had a numeric signal strength meter in the upper right corner. While I was searching for new talk-groups on a digital system the meter would tell me how strong the signal was... 99% most of the time.

I don't know what happened but it's gone. How can I get it back? I've read the book and searched online with no luck.

First, it's NOT a signal strength meter, it's a data decode meter. Second, to get the meter, you need to be in range of a Motorola control channel, have it programmed in MO mode and be in manual mode too.

Forgive me... I'm not an expert, just a buff. All I knew was that the higher the number went, the clearer the signal was. I used that to find the best place to put my scanner in the office.

Exactly, what is a "data decode meter?" A Google search for that term turns up nothing.

The pro-96 is telling you how well it is decoding the Control Channel. It's just a built in feature of the scanner. Nothing more, nothing less

Like scanner_freak said, it's just telling you how well is reading the info from the control channel stream. I guess it's like a 'pseudo' signal strength meter since most of the time the better the signal, the better the decode rate.... but not always!
