My PC doesn't have a serial port.

Santa Claus is bringing me a Pro-96 for Christmas, along with the RS programming cable. I saw the stuff long enough to see what chip the scanner had in it. I remember the cable had a USB connector on one end (at least I'm pretty sure) and it had a thingie in the middle which I guess contained some circuitry.

Will that cable emulate a serial port which will enable me to use it with Win96 software, or will I need something additional?

Undisclosed urban location.
I have found that the usb cable with the serial connector works better than the cable with the "thingy" in the middle.
Plus it can be used with anything you have laying around that has a serial port.

The software that can be downloaded or installed if it comes with the CD will emulate a Serial connection even though it's a USB connection. Make sure you follow the directions on how to set up the emulation :)
