PRO 96 vs. uniden 796D or other

Going to Dayton hamvention next week and I'm looking at buying a scanner. I looked at the BC246 (weak receiver) and then the BC 796D and heard of programming problems (firmware).

I'm kinda anal about products that are suppose to work properly. So now I'm looking into the RS scanners. How does the PRO 96 compare to the uniden models previously mentioned. As well, the RS digital mobile/base scanner PRO???.

Yea, I tried the Motorola thing and that was a nightmare (programming). Sold it.

Pro2096 is the mobile version of the 96.

For the comparison check out this link. the Pro 96/2096 are the practically the same radio except for the obvious one handheld and one is portable. Same goes for the BC296D/BC796D. You can read the official comparison thread for all the info you need.

Well... it could be portable..... with a 12v deep cycle marine battery!
